Great Biblical Doctrines

All 55 of the audio recordings of MLJ's lectures on 2 discs. There were more than 55 lectures in the whole series, but not all recordings have survived.

Note that these are MP3 recordings designed to play on a computer, not in ordinary CD players.

In this famous series Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones examines the great biblical doctrines which form the foundation of the historic Christian faith. He reveals the great depth and sweep of the Bible’s teaching, and challenges his hearers to think biblically.

These two MP3 discs contain the complete series of thirteen albums of sermons given between 1953-55 in Westminster Chapel, London.

N.B. These are historic recordings, and in some cases are not equal to modern standards of reproduction, although all have been processed to improve the quality.

The man: his life and work
Born in Cardiff, South Wales in 1899, Martyn Lloyd-Jones spent the greater part of his childhood in rural Cardiganshire before moving with his family to London in 1914. Concluding his education at St. Marylebone Grammar School, he entered Barts Hospital at the age of 16 to train for the medical profession.

By the time of his first public address in 1924, he was working with Sir Thomas Horder in Harley Street, having passed every medical examination with a brilliance which already assured his future as a distinguished physician. But his true life work lay elsewhere. After a deep struggle, he committed himself to the work of the Christian ministry in 1926 and served the Bethlehem Forward Movement Church, Sandfields, Aberavon (1927-1938), and Westminster Chapel, London (1938 - 1968).

To some, Dr Lloyd-Jones was pre-eminently an evangelist - ‘The modern Moody for whom we are waiting’. To others he was a singular upholder and an incomparable defender of doctrinal Christianity. To all Christians, he was one who, both in pulpit and in print, expounded the  Word of God with authority, simplicity and power.

A lion in the pulpit, in private he was the beloved and gentle counsellor of thousands who found easy access to him. Children always gravitated to him.

He steadily faced death through many months of ultimate illness, in peace and full assurance, falling asleep in Jesus early on the morning of March 1st 1981.
